45th Reunion Survey

Where Did 45 Years Go?

Well, as difficult as it is to believe, next year will mark 45 years since we walked out of our last DMHS pep rally and into our future. In preparation for that momentous milestone, we are beginning to prepare for our 45th reunion, and therefore, we need to form our reunion committee. With the passing of Kathy Thomas (Clark), we find ourselves without a wonderful woman who gave so unselfishly many hours of hard work to this class.

Therefore, we find ourselves in need of some good ol’ Eagle help. Now, no one is asking any one person to take on running the entire reunion. Having run companies all my life, I have seen first-hand that larger projects usually are more successful when a group of people (a committee) does the job; a group of heads is usually better than one.

We have several alternatives that would allow us all to enjoy the reunion without anyone having to serve during and clean after the event. Point in case: at our 60th birthday party, we used a wonderful party planning company, Epic Events, co-owned by Tommie McDermid, Cal’s wife, who coupled with Huck’s catering and Mitch’s band, left very little manpower requirements for us.

So, here is the deal. We want everyone in the class to give their reunion input: when and where to host the event, what to serve, how much the tickets will cost, and whether we will use Eagle manpower to set up, serve, and clean or hire someone. So, my fellow classmates, you are now in the driver’s seat, and we will follow your wishes.

Please take a minute to complete this survey, and we will report the reunion date and details as soon as they are totaled. In addition, if you would like to lend a hand on the labor requirements, just let us know on the survey.

Keepin’ the Spirit Alive,

Richard

1)   When in 2015 would you prefer to hold our 45th Reunion?

  Winter (Jan – March) – Dec)
  Spring (April – June)
  Summer (July – Sept.)
  Fall (Oct. – Dec)
  It does not matter to me.

2)   If you prefer a specific month let us know which month.

Let us know your recommended month

3)   It cost more money and requires more work to hold two separate events verses a single event. Many people traveling from out of town would like two events to justify the trip. Which would you prefer;

  Let's do as we've done in the past; host two separate events – Friday night cocktail party followed by a Saturday dance and dinner.
  Let's have a Friday night Dutch treat get-together at Archie’s (or some place like Archie’s) with a section reserved just for our class, followed by a Saturday night dance and dinner.
  It does not matter to me.

4)   It takes manpower to setup, serve and cleanup. Which of the following would you prefer;

  I think we should use only classmate labor to setup, serve and cleanup. You can count on me to be one of those volunteers.
  I think that we should hire a party planner so the classmate manpower needed is at a minimum and everyone can enjoy the reunion.

5)   No matter which in #4 we select, we will still need some classmate participation to plan and promote the reunion. The planning sessions will be done via conference calls so it does not matter where you live. We will need some locals to run around, help with registrations, outbound phone calls and promotion oriented tasks (done from anywhere), so let’s see some Eagle wings high in the air.

  I'll help with anything that can be done by phone
  I help with any internet or email task
  I'll participate in the conference call planning sessions
  I'll help with registrations
  I'm local use me to do local task
  I'm up for anything needed - just let me know; you can count on me

6)   Every reunion someone considers not attending because of financial limitations. We would like to offer “scholarships” (no registration fee) to any classmate who in in need of that assistance.. Like we did at the 60th birthday part, we would seek donations of as little as $25 or $50 up to $75 or $100 from those who were in the position to help. For this survey, just let us know you want to help,

  Yes, I would like to help by providing a financial scholarship - contact me later for the amount.
